One of the easiest ways to support our work is by attending one of our mission-related preservation events. You can enjoy good company, a historic venue and a tax deduction for your contribution. Rally to Save Atlantic Cotton Mills, March 9, 2010, 6:30pm, 2489 Mailey Ave., Macon, GA

Save Atlantic Cotton Mills
Join Historic Macon Foundation on March 9, 2010 at 6:30pm at Atlantic Cotton Mills (map) for a public rally to save the historic building.  Refreshments and live entertainment by the Red Hot Poker Dots is being provided by a generous donation from Historic Macon Trustee Dr. Michael Wright.  The developer will be on-hand with an informative slideshow and volunteers will offer tours of the historic Mills campus and main building.  The purpose of the rally is to encourage our local elected officials to apply for a grant to make a loan to Landmark Development which would enable the adaptive reuse of the campus into 103 loft apartments with a value of almost $13 million.M

PIC Green Field Day, April 17, 2010, 10am-2pm, Tattnall Square Park, Macon, GA

PIC Green Field Day

Historic Preservation is one of the best tools in ensuring a green future and promoting environmental conservation.  Each house we rehabilitate keeps tons of waste out of the landfill, prevents the emission of CO2 that would be required to build new, prevents the unnecessary harvest of other natural materials and reduces miles traveled by the new occupants.  In addition, we are learning new strategies to make old homes (and all homes) more energy efficient to operate.  Join us on April 17, 2010 at Tattnall Square Park (map) where vendors from across the region will display green technology from solar panels to hybrid cars.  The event is free and open to the public.  Read More...
