REALTOR COURSES

Historic Macon Foundation will host a two-part course for realtors called "How to Sell Historic Homes." Each course will explore the benefits of historic homes, architectural styles, preservation incentives, and local design guidelines. Both courses are eligible for continuing education credit. Realtors can take both parts or one course. The registration fee is $30 for one course or $50 for both courses. This course prepares realtors to sell historic homes in Macon-Bibb County by exposing some commonly held misconceptions about historic homes and historic neighborhoods in general. We will discuss the College Hill Corridor as a case study of historic housing and architectural styles, explain the local design review process, and clarify how historic preservation incentives work in Georgia.

This course further prepares realtors to sell historic homes in Macon-Bibb County through in-depth exploration of concepts and tools from "How to Sell Historic Homes: Part I." We will discuss what defines an architectural style and type as well as exploring variations of style and type specific to Macon-Bibb County; look at Macon-Bibb County's design review application process and apply guidelines to case studies; and explore historic tax credits thoroughly and examine case studies showing the economic benefit of these incentives.
