Rose Hill Ramble

Local Historian, Phil Comer, will lead a new Rose Hill Ramble that explores the Wolff and Oak Ridge Cemeteries— the historically African American sections of Rose Hill Cemetery (1071 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31201). Tour meets at the Madison Street entrance. Oak Ridge is the site of a new Historical marker that provides a short history about the cemetery. The marker states that the cemetery dates back to 1851 and that burial records have documented approximately 960 pre-Civil War burials of both enslaved and free people of color— many of which are now unmarked. Come learn more about these cemeteries on October 28th. Rambles are guided tours of the cemetery that require participants to be able to walk on uneven and unpaved pathways in the cemetery.

Admission is $5 and includes light refreshments during the Ramble. Friends of Rose Hill attend for free.
