Being the owner of a historic house is an exciting prospect. But historic homes present their own unique challenges and benefits. As active proponents of historic homes, Historic Macon understands that maintain a historic building can seem like a daunting task. That's why the staff applied for a grant from the Watson-Brown Foundation Junior Board to create an approachable and succinct handbook with information about maintenance, historic tax credits, and resources for owning a historic home.

The Homeowner's Handbook to Historic Houses was published in May of 2015 in conjunction with National Preservation Month. Physical copies are also available at the Sidney Lanier Cottage.

Thanks to Burt and Burt for designing the book and Nicole Kubas for providing illustrations.
